How I got my Prolific account reactivated

Prolific accounts can end up flagged or banned over PayPal-related issues, even when nothing about the account itself has changed. I ran into exactly that: messages had stopped coming through and a ban banner had appeared on my profile.
Following advice shared in the community (credit to u/Sayzahr for the original tip), I re-linked my PayPal account through Prolific's settings — without making any changes I could actually see on the PayPal side. Shortly after, the ban banner disappeared from my profile and messages started coming back through.
My first new study invitation since the account had gone quiet arrived not long after. It's a simple fix, but not an obvious one if you're not looking in the right place — so I posted it to help others in the same spot.
